REAL ESTATE MARKET UPDATE: February 2020

We saw steady home buyer demand and reduced home seller supply across Metro Vancouver this February.  "Home buyer demand again saw strong year over year increases, while the total number of homes listed for sale struggled to keep pace. This was most pronounced in the condominium market" said REBGV President Ashley Smith. The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver reports that home sales increased 36.9% from January 2020 and 44.9% from February of last year. "Our Realtors are reporting increased traffic at open houses and multiple offer scenarios in some pockets of the market. I'f your considering listing your home for sale, now is a good time to act with increased demand, reduced competition from other sellers and some upward pressure on prices" said Ashley Smith. Sales of Detached homes in February 2020 increased 52.9% while the benchmark price increased 1.9% over the past 6 months. Sales of apartment homes increased 39.8% while the benchmark price increased 3.6% over the past 6 months. The sales of attached homes increased 45.8% while the benchmark price increased 1.7% over the past 6 months.
